Statement in support of the ICC

2025-02-07 16:33:00 +0000

In response to the executive order announced by President Trump imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC),Compassion in Politics stands with all staff and the organisation as a whole who will be experiencing uncertainty and anxiety at this time.

The ICC Representing 125 member states is needed now more than ever at a time of increasing Geopolitical turbulence, as a body which provides necessary checks and balances to the hoarding of power by individuals.

No leader is above the law and the challenge to the ICC marks a line in the sand which if left unchecked can lead directly to increased authoritarianism and dictatorship.

We add our support alongside widespread international condemnation as well as from key organisations such as Amnesty International and urge all who are in positions of power and all who are able, to do the same.

Can we keep in touch?
