New rules, new standards

In recent years the standards in politics have reached an all-time low. Lies, rule-breaking, and bullying have become commonplace.  

Why?

Because the current rules simply aren't up to the job of holding members of government to account. 

This week, we have a chance to change that. 

On 24 March parliament will debate a Bill proposed by Debbie Abrahams MP, Co-Chair of the All-Party Group for Compassionate Politics. If passed it would codify the rules Ministers must abide by and create an independent body to enforce them.

It would prevent any future government from breaking or bending the rules and ensure that they live up to the kind of standards we expect and deserve.
