We publish details of our compassion act

7th May 2019

At an event in parliament today we published our proposals for a new Compassion Act that would enshrine in law the need for the UK government to protect people in the most vulnerable circumstances, to ensure the survival of future generations, and to work towards improving the wellbeing of all.

The proposal received a warm reception from the MPs in the room who between them represented five different parties.

The event was hosted by the MPs Caroline Lucas, Jo Swinson, Thangam Debbonaire, Tracey Crouch, and Heidi Allan. We were supported in drafting and putting forward our proposal by The Equality Trust and Grantham Institute on Climate Change. The meeting agreed to set up working groups to write up the key details of the Act ready for it's full publication and putting to parliament.
